What these tools do
DefenseTools.app is a free suite of automated calculators and reference tools for Michigan criminal defense practice. Each tool performs calculations and presents reference information based on the inputs you provide and on publicly available Michigan statutes, court rules, and published guidance. The tools do not interpret facts, exercise judgment, or give legal advice.
No warranty
The tools are provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that any calculation, chart, or output is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any purpose. Statutes and court rules change, and a tool may not yet reflect the latest amendments.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sorin & Pyle, Trial Lawyers, its attorneys, employees, and agents are not liable for any damages — direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive — arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, any tool in the suite, now or in the future. This includes, without limitation, damages from incorrect calculations, data or charting errors, software bugs, statutory or rule changes not yet reflected, or reliance on any tool's output in any proceeding.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for independently verifying every result against the current statute, court rule, record, and authority before relying on it. These tools are an aid to your professional judgment, not a substitute for it. You — not DefenseTools.app — remain responsible for any filing, argument, or advice you base on a tool's output.
No attorney-client relationship
Using these tools does not create an attorney-client relationship between you (or anyone you represent) and Sorin & Pyle, Trial Lawyers. Information you enter into a tool stays on your device and is not transmitted to or reviewed by the firm.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the suite grows or the law changes. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any dispute arising out of or relating to DefenseTools.app or these terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Ottawa County, Michigan.
